Kaitlyne Wedding Cake (Framed)

Premise

Each cake design is a journey into the imagination and in some ways, perhaps, a portrait of the mind of its maker.

 
Ok Kaitlyne! I wanted to take a second to explain your sketch before I send it over. We went with the scale we discussed. I kept the cake white and clean for brightness like we talked about. I went with the one compote arrangement in the Putnam image we liked. The ombré. But to get the base of the sweet peas in the design I went out in the garden and copied the formation of how they are growing on the tepee outside of the kitchen door. Then changed the colors to the Putnam arrangement the pale mauve y white and then the orange y tones. I went with the David Austin roses, the Eustacia one you love, and then the Harlow Carr for one a little darker pink. I tried to bounce the colors in the ombré arrangement around into the butterfly ranunculus. And did one a pale ish yellow with the brownish and black centers to try to get in all the colors from the inspiration arrangement. I did keep the sweet peas on more animated vines like how they are currently growing in the garden. I also got in some of the minty shade in the greenery in the highlights and we will have to do that in the painting. Originally, I had the two sugar peonies paler but then I darkened them to be more like the dark end of the ombré arrangement. Keeping the paler colors at the top and middle and going into the darker at the bottom! Let me know what you think!
